Okay, I cannot tahan already. I was going to wait for Victor to email me the pix he took with his camera phone but he hasn’t done so yet. So I’ll just go ahead and shout out to the world :
Honk! If You’re Malaysian is the No. 1 best-seller among local books at MPH MidValley!
Yay-yay-yay.
Yesterday afternoon I made a trip to MPH MidValley to check out how my books are doing there. I went to the information counter to query. The sales assistant told me 50 copies were sold since last week of December. Mmmm, apparently that’s not good enough to make any best-seller list, I thought. Then I passed by another computer which was able to check stocks and lo and behold, at the station was a chart of the top ten local best-sellers and Honk! is number 1! It even beat Joey Yap’s feng-shui books and Adibah Amin’s This Side of the Rainbow. I wanted to take a photo of the chart but my phone is a dinosaur with no camera. A young man was waiting to use the computer, so I asked him if he had a camera phone (young people these days are very tech-savvy, surely got one). It turned out he has and he kindly obliged to take the picture and email to me later. I’m still waiting for Victor to download the pix from his phone to the computer and send it to me. He offered to send it to me by MMS but my phone where got MMS one? It’s a clunky Nokia with monochrome LCD.
I’m feeling on top of the world now. Never mind that the no. 1 status is only at the MidValley outlet. (Unfortunately there’s no bestseller list at national level. Different bookstores have different lists). Never mind that it’s no. 1 among local books only. My previous books didn’t make it to any list, so this is a vast improvement for me.
Also contributing to my euphoria was the standee of me being displayed at the Malaysiana section. Yeap, my clones can now be spotted at MPH Midvalley, The Curve, One-U, Subang Parade and Gurney Plaza in Penang. Thank you, MPH for your promotional support.

If you look back in your previous blog when you were talking about publishing Honk, etc…I mentioned in one of those blogs that your book might be top 10 and you told me “No way”….or something along that line. I think now you must take back what you said to me!

So you can snap your standee self at every bookstore in the city! LOL. Good idea, no? You can get a reasonably OK handphone these days with RM700.
