28 February to 4 March 2007 from 9.00 am to 6.30 pm.

The sale takes place at MPH Distributors, Ground floor, Bangunan TH, No 5 Jalan Bersatu 13/4. If you know how to get to Jaya Supermarket in Section 14 Petaling Jaya, then you’ll know how to get there. Don’t turn left into Jaya. Before the next traffic lights (before the mosque on the left), turn right into Section 13 (look out for the Colgate-Palmolive building on the other side of the road) and you’ll soon come to Bangunan TH on the right.

I was there yesterday and thought I was two days early for the sale. But I was told by a little bird that they won’t turn away customers. So I went and bought a few books. Aiyo, the books are so cheep cheep. Of course, they’re not of Payless standard. Mind you, these are brand new books on offer. Paperbacks which normally retail at between RM30-35 are going at RM20-24. Even my book Honk! If You’re Malaysian is on sale at a very very good price. You won’t be able to get it at this price anywhere else.

So, what are you waiting for? Run to MPH now. Today is a good time before the crowd zeroes in.

 

Honk! Saving the best for last

I’ve scheduled a series of four book talks for Honk! The first was at Borders at The Curve, the second at MPH One-Utama and the third was at MPH MidValley. What did I do at these events? I talked about the book and invited questions from the floor. Such sessions are great if you get audience participation.

The last book talk will be held at Borders at Berjaya Times Square in KL this Saturday, 3 March at 3.oo to 4.00 pm. (Not The Curve as indicated earlier in the banner which has since been corrected. I was so enamoured by the banner that I didn’t notice the mistake until Kenny prompted me.)

We’ll be doing something different this time. We meaning Kenny Mah and I. We met at my last book talk at MidValley. He made the book talk banner for me on his own initiative, turned up for my talk and was very supportive throughout. So how will Kenny come into the picture?

I remember attending Yvonne Lee’s book talk at Borders Berjaya a year ago. It was conducted in a talk-show style where the bookstore MC interviewed Yvonne about her book The Sky is Crazy (incidentally the Malay translation will be hitting the bookstores in March). Why don’t I do the same, I thought. Borders is okay with it but their MC has resigned and there has been no replacement for him. I’ll have to get someone to interview me.

That’s where Kenny comes in. Besides his designing skills, he also has the gift of the gab. So I asked him if he was interested to interview me for the Borders event and he agreed enthusiastically. Thank you, Kenny. Did I tell you you’re my new BFF?

Desperate measures for CNY

Chinese New Year is coming. The desperate housewife is still not geared for the festival and may have to resort to desperate measures :

1. Spray weed killer in the jungle that’s her garden and kill all the weeds (and half of the plants).

2. Buy ready-made cookies at pasar pagi two days before new year to get discount.
