10K Contest Results

23 Oct

A big Thank You to everyone who has participated in the contest. There were 86 entries in all.

Here are the winners picked randomly :

1st prize – RM100 voucher : Lynnx01

2nd prize – RM50 voucher : Khairil Zufree

3rd prize – RM30 voucher : Spiffy

I feel so bad that I can’t award a prize to everyone, especially to those who had taken the trouble to post the contest on their blogs. But if I give everyone a prize, my pocket would feel ‘badder’. So I can only express my heartfelt appreciation and hope that you will take part in future contests here. Keep trying and the prize could be yours some day. Don’t give up.

Congratulations to the winners. Please email me your address and let me know what vouchers you’d like. I’ll allow you to feed both your soul and stomach, so you can have both MPH and McDonald vouchers if you so wish.

Last call for 10K Contest

Closing date for the contest is today. If you haven’t put in your entry, pop it in before it’s too late! Results out next Tuesday, 23 October 2007.

If you’re in KL this Sunday, go listen to Zhang Su Li at Times @ Pavilion. She’s the author of A Backpack and a Bit of Luck. She writes beautifully. You will be captivated by her adventures off the beaten track. I haven’t met her but I heard she’s an excellent speaker.

I must be dreaming

15 Oct

According to the Myers-Briggs personality test, I am a Dreamer. This is an introverted personality type. Huh? I’ve always thought I’m both an extrovert and introvert, depending on my mood and who I’m with. This is the profile of the dreamer :

INFP – The Dreamer

INFPs are introspective, private, creative and highly idealistic individuals that have a constant desire to be on a meaningful path. They are driven by their values and seek peace. Empathetic and compassionate, they want to help others and humanity as a whole. INFPs are imaginitive, artistic and often have a talent for language and writing. They can also be described as easygoing, selfless, guarded, adaptable, patient and loyal.

Okay, this describes me to a certain extent but it isn’t 100% accurate. I’m not sure if it will yield the same results if I take this test another day. But I’m happy to note that many famous writers have this INFP profile, among them Amy Tan, Aldoux Huxley, JRR Tolkien, George Orwell, Laura Ingalls Wilder and William Shakespeare. I’m in good company if my personality type holds.

Want to know more about yourself? Take the test.

Suspenders

5 Oct

Conversation between a Malaysian man and his English wife.

Man : Honey, where are all my suspenders?

Wife :  You don’t have any suspenders.

Man : Of course I do.  I wear them everyday.

Wife : All your trousers are so tight, why would you need suspenders to hold them up?

Man : I don’t wear suspenders to hold up my trousers.  I wear them under my trousers.

Wife : The word is briefs, dear.  Not suspenders.  There’s nothing to suspend under there.

Man : Of course there is!
