Goodbye my blog

4 Oct

I have decided to stop blogging.

For loyal readers of this blog, you know that’s not the first of such an announcement. I have wanted to pull the plug to this blog several times but somehow I resuscitated it  and continued. I have made friends here, connected with my book fans, won some cool prizes via this blog and also given out cash vouchers and book prizes to readers.

My initial intention is to completely delete this blog so that it would disappear totally from cyberspace.  But as I was copying the content into Word documents (if you know of a faster way to copy an entire blog copy to your hard disk, let me know), I realise that some information contained here would be useful to netizens, for example my entries on writing and books.  It would be pity to delete them all and deprive someone these nuggets of information. So I am letting this blog float around.

Why do I want to stop blogging?  If you look at the recent history of my entries, you’d notice that I update sporadically these days, maybe once a week or even a fortnight. I am running out of steam for fresh content to blog about.  Now that I’m holding a full time job, there is less time to play around with. Besides, I want to concentrate on writing more books.

Perhaps in future I may start other blogs for other interests. But for now, it is goodbye to Life’s Like That – the blog. I will still maintain my media gallery at www.lydiateh.blogspot.com and you can also refer to my website at www.lydiateh.com for updates.

Goodbye.

This haunting and lovely song by Teresa Teng seems appropriate in my present frame of mind. Just substitute ‘love’ with ‘blog’ and it almost hits the nail on the head.

Goodbye… to your blog.. Yes, just let it float around. Don’t delete it totally. It’ll still be useful to others that way. All the best.

Oh, that’s sad… :( But I’m glad you’ve decided not to delete the whole thing. You can still write whenever you feel like it ;)

I don’t know how to copy the entire blog in one go, but when I wanted to archive my blog, I chose the option to display a whole year’s posts in a page (Blogger allows that, I don’t know about WordPress) and saved the webpage (that way I have only one page per year). Then I switched the option back to what I had previously :P

I wish you the very best in your writing! Take care!

Ha, ha, joking. Like the others, I wish u the best and yes, do leave this blog as a buried net treasure. At least give me some time to look around! ;-) I’m sure I’ll see u blogging about a future interest. Or blog about your job next, after a well-deserved rest?

Elaine, one of the reasons for shutting down my blog is because you are hardly here nowadays to comment.

Just kidding-la. Thanks for your support. I hope to meet you too. Frasers Hill is one of my favourites places in Malaysia. Next time I go there, I’ll let you know. Take care, young lady.
